In the Azores, it is possible to observe around 24 species of cetaceans throughout the year. The secret to this diversity lies in the Azores’ strategic location in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean, where ocean currents converge and the seabed drops to over 1,000 meters, making these islands one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
This activity lasts up to 3 hours and is led by a professional team (skippers, biologists, and spotters) using semi-rigid or cabin boats (depending on the number of passengers). Before setting out to sea, a briefing is held covering the species you may encounter and the Azores’ Whale Watching Code of Ethics. All necessary equipment for your safety and comfort is provided.
The excursions may be modified due to weather conditions or other reasons, as determined by the local guides.
